Parhelion!

Once in awhile an event, a small moment, a shift in awareness - any of these - makes our day just a little brighter. On my way to lunch, J called and said 'look up'. Had she not called I would have missed a rare event in Salt Lake - a sun dog! Had she not noticed someone else looking up and stopped to wonder why, we both would have missed it. Had I not looked up, and caught the eye of 2 girls biking by, they would have missed it. Serendipitously wonderful!

Sundog (Parhelion): a bright spot in the sky appearing on either side of the sun, formed by refraction of sunlight through ice crystals high in the earth's atmosphere.
